Every year, In-Cosmetics Korea offers a unique perspective on the technologies and ingredients shaping the future of beauty. Bringing together ingredient suppliers, formulators and R&D experts, the exhibition showcases the scientific advances that will define the next generation of skincare, haircare and beauty innovation.

Earlier this month, our Seoul-based innovation hub Latitude37 visited In-Cosmetics Korea 2026 and identified a clear shift: innovation is no longer driven by the search for a single hero ingredient. Instead, the industry is building integrated performance ecosystems where biotechnology, regenerative actives, advanced delivery systems and beauty technologies work together to optimize long-term skin health.

Across the exhibition, three major innovation directions stood out, illustrating how Korean ingredient innovation is entering a new phase of scientific sophistication.

LONGEVITY BECOMES THE NEW LANGUAGE OF PREMIUM SKINCARE

The strongest theme observed throughout the exhibition was the shift from traditional anti-aging claims toward longevity-driven skincare. Rather than focusing solely on reducing visible signs of aging, ingredient suppliers increasingly highlighted concepts such as cellular repair, biological age, skin longevity and healthy aging, inspired by advances in longevity biology and regenerative science.

This evolution was reflected in the growing presence of NMN, NAD+, senolytics, growth factors and antioxidants, presented as technologies designed to support the skin's long-term biological functions rather than simply address age-related concerns.

REGENERATIVE INGREDIENTS DIVERSIFY BEYOND CONVENTIONAL SOURCES

Regenerative ingredients remained at the heart of innovation, with exosomes and PDRN continuing to gain momentum while evolving into more diverse technology platforms. Across the exhibition, suppliers showcased plant-derived, biomimetic and vegan exosomes, alongside new generations of PDRN sourced from rose, chlorella and other botanical origins, moving beyond the traditional salmon-derived approach.

This diversification reflects a broader maturation of regenerative skincare. Communication is becoming more sophisticated, highlighting ingredient origin, cellular communication and targeted efficacy, while supporting stronger sustainability and regulatory positioning. At the same time, both exosomes and PDRN are expanding beyond facial skincare into scalp care, haircare and advanced regenerative formulations, where they are increasingly combined with peptides, collagen-supporting actives and delivery technologies to enhance overall performance.

DELIVERY TECHNOLOGIES BECOME A KEY DRIVER OF PERFORMANCE

Beyond the active ingredients themselves, delivery technologies emerged as one of the most significant innovation themes at the exhibition. Suppliers showcased a wide range of platforms, including liposomes, niosomes, nanoemulsions, flexosomes, encapsulation systems and targeted delivery technologies, all designed to improve ingredient stability, penetration and controlled release.

This evolution reflects a growing recognition that formulation performance depends not only on what ingredients are used, but also on how effectively they are delivered to the skin. As a result, suppliers are increasingly developing integrated ingredient and delivery platforms that maximize efficacy across skincare, haircare, bodycare and sensitive-skin formulations.

THE CIC TAKE

Beyond the rise of individual ingredients, In-Cosmetics Korea 2026 highlighted a broader transformation of beauty innovation. Rather than relying on a single breakthrough active, the industry is building integrated performance ecosystems that combine regenerative biotechnology, advanced delivery systems and longevity science to support long-term skin health.

As cosmetic innovation becomes increasingly biologically driven, future product performance will rely not only on ingredient efficacy, but also on validated mechanisms of action, optimized delivery and scientifically grounded formulation platforms.

Cosmobeauty Seoul 2026: How K-Beauty Is Engineering the Next Generation of Performance

Photos: YTNING - DOSYOUNIQUE - SOOO

More than a trade show, Cosmobeauty Seoul has become a barometer of K-Beauty innovation. It offers an early read on the technologies, formats, and performance strategies that will influence the global beauty market.

To decode the most meaningful signals from this year's fair, Cosmetics Inspiration & Creation partnered with our Seoul-based innovation hub, Latitude37, to identify the innovations that best illustrate where K-Beauty is heading next.

At this year's edition, one message was impossible to miss: performance has become the new language of beauty. Skincare accounted for nearly 60% of showcased products, while ingredient-led communication remained dominant, with PDRN, Collagen, Glutathione, Vitamin C, and Retinol featured prominently across launches. As consumers become increasingly ingredient-literate, brands are shifting from aspirational storytelling toward evidence-based efficacy.

Yet the most significant evolution goes beyond ingredients. Delivery systems, beauty devices, application rituals, and lifestyle-specific solutions are redefining how performance is achieved and experienced

UREUN - Vegan Dry Shampoo Ampoule

UREUN - Vegan Dry Shampoo Ampoule

Dry shampoo is reimagined through an innovative ampoule format. Designed as a non-aerosol solution, UREUN's Vegan Dry Shampoo Ampoule absorbs excess sebum without the visible white residue commonly associated with traditional dry shampoos. Available in both squeeze and brush applicator formats, it offers a more discreet and portable solution for refreshing the scalp and hair throughout the day.

THE CIC TAKE

As ingredient-led claims become increasingly commonplace, formats and delivery systems are emerging as key sources of differentiation. UREUN reflects a shift toward performance that is defined not only by formulation, but by how seamlessly efficacy fits into everyday life.

DOSYOUNIQUE - YOUNIQUE S

Beauty technology expands into scalp wellness. Among the beauty devices showcased at the fair, DOS&YOUNIQUE's stood out for applying low-level laser technology to scalp care. The device uses 650nm laser diodes designed to support scalp health and hair-growth maintenance, extending device-led beauty beyond traditional facial skincare applications.

THE CIC TAKE

Scalp wellness is emerging as a new frontier of beauty innovation. DOS&YOUNIQUE reflects the growing role of technology in haircare, as devices move from professional settings into daily routines. Performance is increasingly delivered through integrated systems that combine formulations, devices, and long-term optimization strategies.

YTNING - Slimming Guasha Cream

Award-winning exhibitor YTNING combines body care and massage in a single performance-oriented ritual. Its Slimming Guasha Cream pairs a collagen-rich body formula with an ergonomic applicator inspired by gua sha techniques. Designed to support massage, firmness, and sculpting benefits, the product integrates mechanical stimulation directly into the treatment experience.

THE CIC TAKE

The application step is becoming a performance tool in its own right. By bringing together formula, tool, and gesture, YTNING reflects the rise of more active and technical beauty rituals. Efficacy is no longer driven solely by what is applied, but also by how it is applied.

SOOO - Swim Shampoo

SOOO - Swim Shampoo

Another award-winning exhibitor, SOOO, attracted attention with Swim Shampoo, a targeted cleansing solution developed specifically for swimmers. Designed to remove chlorine, sweat, and pool-related buildup while supporting scalp comfort, the product responds to a highly specific lifestyle need. Its strength lies not in a breakthrough ingredient, but in its sharply defined use occasion.

THE CIC TAKE

Beauty is becoming increasingly responsive to lifestyle. SOOO demonstrates how activity-specific needs are creating new opportunities for innovation, as functionality becomes a key driver of relevance and differentiation.

What's Next?

Cosmobeauty Seoul 2026 confirmed that K-beauty is entering a new phase of performance innovation. Ingredients remain important, but competitive advantage increasingly emerges from the systems built around them: advanced delivery formats, beauty technologies, gesture-enhancing applicators, and highly targeted routines.

Innovation is becoming increasingly holistic. Beyond formulation, competitive advantage will come from the ability to integrate science, technology, application, and consumer relevance into cohesive solutions. The next generation of beauty innovation will be designed not only to deliver efficacy, but to optimize how efficacy is experienced.

LIFE RESILIENCE - EXPLORING SKINCARE’S EVOLVING ROLE IN THE WELLNESS ECONOMY

Reframe Beauty

As the Global Wellness Institute reports that the wellness economy has doubled in size since 2013, our latest Beauty Foresight report - The New Unfolding: Skincare & Wellness Inspiration from the US, lifts the veil on how beauty brands can stake a claim in this thriving and evolving industry.

Skincare’s role within this new wellness framework is shifting from reactive care to proactive life design. Read on for a snapshot of one of our core Beauty Foresight trends, Life Resilience, which maps the emerging opportunities for brands able to harness skincare’s functional and regenerative potential.

EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE - Mood as a foundation of skin health.

Longevity and resilience are no longer abstract ideals – they’re becoming tangible, measurable, trainable, and integrated into daily routines. Aging healthily and holistically is now a key wellness driver, with up to 60% of consumers viewing it as a “top” or “very important” goal (McKinsey, 2025), providing a clear pathway for skincare brands to reframe narratives around resilience and health.

Within this new space, emotional wellbeing is fast becoming a frontier of modern beauty, as consumers increasingly recognise that their mood, stress levels and internal rhythms directly shape how they look, feel, and age. Emotionally attuned routines that stabilise the nervous system, regulate sleep, and build long-term resilience will find a responsive consumerbase, as 40% of Gen Z say they feel “almost always stressed” (McKinsey, 2025). Emotional equilibrium is no longer a luxury; it is a core health strategy.

Sakara Life - Serene State

Emotional Harmony

The urgency is real; chronic stress can shorten life expectancy by 2.8 years, making emotional harmony an essential pillar of longevity (National Institute for Health and Welfare, 2020). Consumer interest in this space is surging - Instagram posts tagged stress-relieving have risen +261% YoY, while TikTok interest in stress-modulating ingredients enjoys an uptick: adaptogens (+505% YoY), magnesium (+50% YoY), and lavender (+18% YoY) are all trending as consumers grapple for solutions*.

Beauty and wellness brands are responding with products and programs that merge mood management with biological optimisation. RoC Skincare is funding research into the link between emotional balance and skin function, while Tatcha x Open’s World Mental Health Day (Oct 2025) initiative integrates breathwork into skincare rituals. Functional formats are also accelerating uptake: Sakara Life’s Serene State gummies and Primally Pure’s Serenity Soaks bath pucks (both Sept 2025) anchor nervous system care into daily routines.

Eyeam - Glymphatic Sleepy Butter

Sleep Balancing

Restorative sleep is becoming an equally critical dimension. Quality sleep can add up to five years to lifespan, inspiring innovation around circadian support and neuro-restorative actives. Neurae’s The Sleeping Mask (Aug 2025) leverages Gardenia Jasminoides for melatonin-like signaling, while Eyeam’s Magnesium Glymphatic Sleepy Butter (June 2025) promotes overnight brain detoxification through transdermal magnesium and chlorophyll. Reframe’s Circadian Cream (May 2025) is a melatonin-mimicking, “memory foam” moisturiser designed to lower skin stress and reset nightly repair.

Together, these launches signal a new era of emotionally intelligent beauty, one where calm becomes a catalyst for longevity.
